TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SERVICE Shipper and Direct Express Auto Transport Agree To The Following:
1. Pick up and delivery is from your Mainland USA door to your Hawaiian Island destination port unless residential area restrictions apply. If your vehicle is inoperable it cannot be shipped to or from Hawaii. If it is oversized (dual or oversize wheels, extra-large, racks, lifted, limo, etc.), please inquire as to extra charges.
2. The carrier and driver jointly and separately are authorized to operate and transport his/her or their motor vehicle between its pick up location and the destination set forth on this shipping order-bill of lading.
3. Direct Express agrees to provide a carrier to transport your vehicle as promptly as possible in accordance with your instructions but cannot guarantee pick-up or delivery on a specified date or time. If the customer cancels an order prior to Mainland USA pickup his deposit will be refunded in full. Direct Express reserves the right to reject any order and will refund the deposit in full.
4. Shipper shall remove all non-permanent outside mounted luggage and other racks prior to shipment. Vehicles must be tendered to carrier in good running condition (unless otherwise noted) with no more than a half tank of fuel (prefer 1/4 tank).
5. Direct Express does not agree to pay for your rental of a vehicle, nor shall it be liable for failure of mechanical or operating parts of your vehicle.
6. Domestic Mainland USA trucking damage claims are covered by a minimum of 3/4 of a million dollars public liability and a maximum of $150,000 property damage. Direct Express will share the domestic carrier insurance policy upon request. There is no insurance for the port to port leg of the transport.
7. No electronic equipment, valuables, plants, live pets, alcohol, drugs or firearms, may be left in the vehicle. The vehicle may NOT have ANY personal items. Ocean shipments are not allowed to contain anything other than the vehicle equipment. Carrier is, of course, not liable for personal items left in vehicle, nor for damage caused to vehicle from excessive or improper loading of personal items.
8. Shipper warrants that he will pay the price quoted due Direct Express Auto Transport, Inc. for delivered vehicles, and will not seek to charge back a credit card or stop a check to offset any dispute for damage claims. Department of Transportation regulations require that all claims be filed in writing and all tariffs be paid in full before claim can be processed.
9. Customer acknowledges that he has read and understands the following directions and information:

- Your vehicle/s is in operating condition, with a working emergency brake, and is licensed or qualified to be licensed for operation on public streets or highways - All vehicles must have a clean exterior for inspection. Dirty vehicles will not be accepted. - Personal belongings are removed (see below for details) - There are no cracks in windshields or other windows - The gas tank is less than a 1/4 tank full - Antifreeze during the winter months - You remove fire extinguishers - Fire Extinguishers must be removed. - Vehicles with Propane tank must be empty of all liquid, Empty tank needs to be tagged and certified as gas free.
In addition to the above, for EASTBOUND SHIPMENTS, please make sure that: - You bring the certificate of ownership and a current certificate of registration * - If someone other than the registered owner delivers the automobile, Matson is provided a notarized letter of authorization from the registered owner(s) authorizing shipment. If a lien holder is named on the title or registration, then a letter from the lien holder authorizing shipment from Hawaii, Guam, Saipan or Micronesia is required * please note that a letter from the lien holder does not have to be notarized. - The current vehicle registration is provided - Any copies of Title or Registration include the front and back of the original Document
PLEASE NOTE - Vehicles shipping from HAWAII to the MAINLAND UNITED STATES are subject to stringent inspections by the USDA prior to shipping. It is the responsibility of the shipper to have the interior and exterior of the vehicle thoroughly cleaned. Example: The USDA looks for clumps of mud in wheel wells or under the vehicle?s carriage, under the hood of vehicles is also inspected, the USDA also looks for dirt, grass, plant seeds in the interior as well as the exterior and for anything that they consider invasive to the U.S Continent. If you fail the USDA inspection Matson will be unable to ship your vehicle until the vehicle has been properly cleaned and re-inspected by the USDA.
* - Active military members with out-of-state lien holders are exempt from this requirement
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remove All Personal Belongings -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only items accepted are those normally attached to the vehicle or permanently installed in the dash, doors, rear deck, or console.
If not bolted in, the following items need to be removed. * Loose Radios, or CBs * Radar scanners * CD or MP3 Players/Ipod * Tape Player and Tapes * Portable Telephones * Non-Standard Stereo Equipment (Speakers, Amplifiers, etc.) * Decorative ornaments, auto covers & bras, truck tailgate nets, auto racks, and theft alarms systems.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hawaii Current Vehicle Shipping Laws -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Needs proof of ownership, current title, and current registration, notarized letter of authorization from any non-present party listed on the title (Lien holder, or spouse, etc.) If registered owner is in active military, and is out of the state ?otarized letter requirement is waived. Must register you vehicle within 30 days after arrival in Hawaii. Effective 8/8/2007, an invasive species fee imposed by the State of Hawaii will be assessed on all shipments to Hawaii at a rate of $.50 for every 1,000 pounds.

10. This supersedes all prior written or oral representation of Direct Express and constitutes the entire agreement between shipper and Direct Express and may not be changed except in writing signed by an officer of Direct Express.
This agreement and any shipment here under is subject to all terms and conditions of the carrier's tariff and the uniform straight bill of lading, copies of which are available at the office of the carrier.
This supersedes all prior written or oral representation of Direct Express and constitutes the entire agreement between shipper and Direct Express and may not be changed except in writing signed by an officer of Direct Express.
